Mary Harris

Office Coordinator

What year did you start working for McDonald’s and the Walla Organization?

At McDonald’s in Rapid City in 1977

What led you to your current career at McDonald’s?

I had recently graduated for HS and was out looking for a job. Stopped in to the West Main St McDonald’s for a quick bite, and asked if they were hiring.  Thankfully they were and the rest is history. (literally)

What is your current position and responsibility?

Office Coordinator- I’m a jack of all trades with responsibilities that include compiling data, data entry, insurance management and handling donation requests.

Why do you work at McDonald’s?

It’s a great place to work. I’ve always enjoyed working here.

What is it like working for the Walla Organization?

It’s a great place to work. The teamwork is amazing. Everyone not only gives it their all, but they lend a hand when someone needs one, and it happens every single day. I feel appreciated and that means a lot. These things come from the top, which really makes a big difference.

What is your go-to meal at McDonald’s?

I like the Big Mac and, of course, a side of fries. But if you asked me my all-time favorite, it would hands down would be the cheddar melt. And if you could add a shamrock shake with it, even better.

How does your career at McDonald’s support your life outside of work?

My career at McDonald’s has allowed me to enjoy my home, purchase my dream car (a Mini Cooper Roadster) and enjoy a lifestyle where I can travel throughout the US and beyond.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to travel and photograph my adventures, go for drives in my Mini Cooper and read whenever I can even though I don’t seem to do as much as I used to.
